Comma Drama

In writing for this blog, my poor grasp of grammar has been put out there for the whole world to experience. I realized the other day that I generally am a poor user of the comma.  I generally tend to overcommasate. What is ‘overcommasate’? To overcommasate is to insert, commas, over-abundantly, in an attempt, to make up for, a lack of, good grammar, skills. It was the realization that I overcommasate that led me to develop other words surrounding the comma. Enjoy!

CommaSense - The personal quality of correct comma usage.

Commakaze – One who is so committed to world domination via commasense, he will pay the ultimate price.

CommaChameleon – An 80′s song about commas that blend in with their surroundings.

Commasutra – I probably should not have put this one on here. Come up with your own definition.

Dalicomma – The far-eastern spiritual leader of those seeking to gain a deeper insight into the nirvana that is the comma.

  1. Your, best, post, to, date. Or is it your best post now?

I’m confused. Nonetheless… it seems you should start a blog just about the words you make up – now their is a book idea: “Stephens Big Book of Made Up Words”.

  2. So, Shakespear made up a plethora of new words as he wrote and he’s supposed to be a literary genius. . . but you ain’t Shakespear. :D I am worried for you, though. You don’t actually USE these words in daily conversation, do you?

BTW, it looks like Michael (previous comment) “commaserates” with your problem. :D :D:D:D

    Later bro.

  3. I realize this post has left many people commatose or in a state of unresponsiveness due to far too much talking about the comma. For this, I am truly sorry.

  4. I thoroughly enjoyed this post…and have shared it with several of my English teacher friends. Maybe they can help you with your new Dictionary!
